Table this for discussion…

We love our furniture.  Pretty obviously, we live and breathe it here at KE-ZU.

The distinction between tables available on the current market can be astonishing.  Responding to designs changing needs in materiality, sustainability, size and adaptability lends itself to creating a diverse range of table components. Designers the world over are working with different methods, utilising different materials in exciting ways, and their designs are born from different concepts.

Pretty simply, this means at KE-ZU we have a large range of tables to suit any sort of project or space.  Exciting!

Above you’ll find a collection of only some of the tables which are currently available for viewing at the KE-ZU showroom.  A generous mix from indoor and outdoor occasional and dining comprising materiality variety of extruded aluminium, woven steel, plastic, Chestnut wood, lacquer MDF and so much more.

KE-ZU Welcomes Bernhardt Design…

KE-ZU loves a party, and what better reason than to introduce Bernhardt Design into our product family! On a cold winter Sydney night the heat was turned up at KE-ZU, proudly welcoming Bernhardt Design to the country.  The KE-ZU showroom was re-imagined into gallery mode for the evening by Steve Cordony of Belle.

The abundantly diverse range takes pride of place in its new Australian home with KE-ZU.  Not since 2003 has Bernhardt Design been available on our shores and the veteran North Carolina based company showcased its range available at KE-ZU, presented by the infallible international design heavyweight Suzanne Trocmè.

Trocmè, the London based Wallpaper* Editor-at-Large and Bernhardt Design designer arrested the showroom floor amongst floating portraits of Bernhardt Design designers to introduce the range (including the prolific seating range designed by herself), and her friends within the Bernhardt Design family of creatives.

Anecdotally confessed a former furniture supplier to bankers and lawyers, the impressive Bernhardt Design collective is formed from a pool of international furniture genius.  Harbouring the likes of Ross Lovegrove, Charles Pollock and Jaime Hayon, Bernhardt Design is now a culturally-diverse creative hub fostering a generous mix of emerging designers and names synonymous with cutting edge design, all producing undeniably high quality unique pieces.

KE-ZU is delighted to unveil the catalogue from the esteemed design house and manufacturer to the Australian market.

Charles Pollock: “Somebody for the Centuries”…

30 years out of the spotlight and before that a distinguished career designing what would become modern classics for some of the most iconic brands in 20th century design, the icon himself: Charles Pollock, is back.

At 81 year old Pollock is probably best known for The Pollock Executive Chair, a design that played a defining part in changing the face of not only office furniture but helped forge a new path in both residential and corporate styling – a testament to its appeal is the fact that it is still, to this day, produced and sold by Knoll – the model will next year turn 50.

Beyond this, his work for George Nelson and Herman Miller was also extremely significant and today his imprint on the 20th Century Design is still highly regarded by Architects, Interior and Industrial Designers alike.

With Pollock’s legacy still strong and his designs very much relevant, the curiosity of Bernhardt Design’s President, Jerry Helling got the better of him so he went in search of the man… with a proposition.

After a year of design and development Pollock’s CP collection (two lounge chair models) were born and only this week were launched in New York at the annual ICFF.

What is most captivating about the octogenarian’s latest release is its timelessness.

CP1 and CP2 are studies in the attention given to the finest of detail… a demonstration of exemplary form and leather working and in their contemporary frames: an expression of Pollock’s Pratt Institute design training alongside his experience on the automotive assembly line for Chrylser from the age of 15.

A self-confessed workaholic, Pollock shows no sign of slowing.  The recent years spent sculpting and painting, away from the world of furniture and interiors hasn’t served to dull his acute sense of the sophisticated and refined, if anything the release of CP1 and CP2 illustrates his relevance today and his importance in the annals of design history.

CP1 and CP2 and the full Bernhardt Design collections will be formally launched in Australia by KE-ZU in July 2012.

MILANO:2012 | ENEA…

The Spaniards are well and truly out in force at this years Salone Mobile, with ENEA presenting the full extent of the Lievore, Altherr & Molina designed Lottus program.  Arguably the most chameleonic system of tables and chairs on the contract market, ENEA have managed to produce the definitive collection offering upholstery, timber, polyprop and metal finishes in what is a cohesive and visually refined product.

Well suited to sophisticated hospitality applications as it is to the sleek corporate world, the ability to customise the colour and features upon the basic Lottus frame lend this collection just as readily to the softer, more relaxed residential market.

Originally introduced as a basic table and seating collection, the Lottus program has evolved and improved to become an exciting and boundless offering that boasts the most competitive pricing, thanks in part to its modularity.

MILAN:2012 | EMU…

French Architect Jean Nouvel has created for EMU of Italy, a comprehensive family of chairs, stools and tables that he hopes will form a collection of contemporary archetypal outdoor furniture pieces – as recognisable in time as 19th Century public garden furniture is in Europe, today

The aluminium extruded designs are a study in simplicity, engineering and practicality.

Available as a chair, armchair, low chair, stool and folding table, the collection is premeditated and delivered as the 21st Century answer to outdoor cafe and hospitality furnishings.   Currently MIA is offered in Red, Black, White and Grey.

Despite his immesurable experience across many design disciplines, Nouvel attributes this project as one of the most challenging he has ever faced!

MILAN:2012 | Andreu World…

Andreu World enjoyed a very successful year in 2011 with the SAIL collection designed by Piergiorgio and Michele Cazzaniga scoring a Red Dot Design Award.  Off the back of this, Milan 2012 was the perfect occasion to release the timber frame and leather clad models of the same design.  Already a beautiful, refined injection moulded stacking seat, the Sail collection can only go from strength to strength with these sophisticated new models affording it a whole new level of appeal.
Also of note was the addition of a Nub Loveseat to Patricia Urquiola’s family of timber lounges and chairs.
Already garnering much attention around the world for it’s endearing form and nostalgic references, the Nub collection welcomes the timber varnished timber model of the four leg chair.  Previously Nub pieces have only been available in lacquered or stained finishes.  This evolution for the collection sees its appeal broaden further still.
As renowned for their tables as much as their well crafted chairs, Andreu World this year presented the TAO Table from Lievore, Altherr & Molina.  The asymmetry of the cross legged base and the solidity of each timber part, when in profile, imbues this dining table with a sturdiness well matched to chairs such as Woody and Vogue.
Ronda is a classic Andreu World collection that has seen many variants added over the years, the most recent and game changing yet is this years splayed-leg timber base.
Contemporary, but retaining all the warmth and sophistication of its timber elements, this new model is also offered with leather upholstery which affords the specifier a multitude of arrangements when alternating stains and leathers to complement or contrast.
